Hazard and Identification (HAZID)

This course will give learners an overview of the HAZID methodology process, key roles expected of the participants as well as commonly employed reporting methods.

Delivery: Classroom, Face-to-face or Virtual

Duration: 2 days

About the Hazard and Identification (HAZID) course

Hazard identification (HAZID) is the first step of the risk assessment process and functions as a means to identify and assess/suggest appropriate prevention, mitigation and control measures for hazards present within a plant or facility. The HAZID review will also evaluate the adequacy of safeguards available, and propose additional safeguards where deficiencies are identified.

The effectiveness of the HAZID approach is highly dependent upon the expertise of the personnel involved in the HAZID review. This course will give learners an overview of the HAZID methodology process, key roles expected of the participants as well as commonly employed reporting methods. The content within this course is learner-centric, with emphasis on practical knowledge sharing by experienced instructors who have facilitated numerous HAZID workshops.

The content is learner-centred with high interconnectedness between learners and instructors. The course would include tasks and world examples relevant for practice, delivered in an interactive and engaging approach. The course design is structured and guided with clear expectations, coupled with knowledge validation aligned with the outcome.

This course is delivered in partnership with Synergen OG.

  • Understand the importance of clearly defined hazards specific to a given facility and the potential benefits
  • Learn common approaches employed to carry out hazard identification (HAZID)
  • Recognise the role that they play as individuals in the HAZID process in order to maximise its effectiveness
