Hazard and Operability (HAZOP)
This course will give learners an overview of the HAZOP methodology process, key roles expected of the participants as well as commonly employed reporting methods.
Delivery: Classroom, Face-to-face or Virtual
Duration: 2 days
About the Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) course
Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) is a systematic approach used to examine the consequential effects on the system, equipment and facility as a whole in the event of a potential deviation from the intended process design and operation.
The effectiveness of the HAZOP approach is highly dependent upon the expertise of the personnel involved in the HAZOP review. This course will give learners an overview of the HAZOP methodology process, key roles expected of the participants as well as commonly employed reporting methods. The content within this course is learner-centric, with an emphasis on practical knowledge sharing by experienced instructors who have facilitated numerous HAZOP workshops. The content is learner-centred with high interconnectedness between learners and instructors.
The course would include tasks and world examples relevant for practice, delivered in an interactive and engaging approach. The course design is structured and guided with clear expectations, coupled with knowledge validation aligned with outcome.
This course is delivered in partnership with Synergen OG.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the benefits of conducting HAZOP and the situations in which it can be most relevant
- Familiarise themselves with the typical methodology employed during HAZOP
- Recognise the roles that they play as individuals within the HAZOP process in order to maximise its effectiveness
- Conduct reporting on HAZOP studies
Who should attend?
This course is best suited to personnel at all organisational levels i.e. managers, team leaders, engineers and safety personnel.
It is also important for staff involved in the design, operation, modification or maintenance of process facilities or other major hazard areas, and anyone who would like to develop their understanding of HAZOP.
