Meet Ryan Bridge, Rig Inspections Manager, ABL USA

The team at ABL Group shares the passion, vision and values for working in energy and the world’s oceans, de-risking and driving the energy transition. We are driven by the idea that the best work is born from professionalism, diligence… and fun. You know ABL Group, but do you know our team?

What does your day-to-day look like at ABL?

“As a rig inspections manager, my day-to-day can vary greatly.  My responsibilities include the management of rig inspection projects, ensuring manpower resources, project scope execution, and deliverables expectations are met.

I also prepare tenders and proposals, ensuring schedules and budgets are met. In addition to management of rig inspection projects, I also conduct certain aspects of the physical rig inspection scope as necessary.”

What inspired you to join your industry?

While attending Texas A&M university, I was introduced to the many aspects of the oil and gas industry. Although previously not having much experience around it, I found it to be very intriguing learning how much of our daily lives are driven by it. It opened my eyes to the possibilities and ultimately led to a career.

Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?

I have recently become more involved in the DROPS community. Dropped objects are one of the leading causes for LTIs and a common issue across the industry. Although it’s not a new concept, it’s exciting to be part of the change in culture and drive new ideas for dropped objects prevention, incorporating them in our rig inspection scopes.

What does the future look like in energy and oceans in USA?

For the immediate future, it’s an interesting time in the USA with the upcoming election in November and what that outcomes that will bring. Additional factors include the high volatility of crude oil and the significant operating costs.

However, the region has always produced new technologies and is on the forefront of exploration. There will continue to be a focus on the expansion of renewable energies but there will likely also continue to be growth in drilling sector as energy consumption and demand grows. Oil and gas will remain essential for meeting the current and future energy demands.

What do you enjoy most about working as part of the ABL Group team in Houston?

“I enjoy working with the ABL Group team in Houston because the people are truly great. It’s a diverse team, both personally and technically, that collaborate and share their ideas.

We are lucky to have team members with expertise in MWS, Marine Assurance, Longitude Engineering, AIM, Marine Casualty, and more services all siting in one place. Talking and collaborating on a daily basis, I feel like I can learn something new every day.
