About
Choon Khim is a Chartered Engineer, a Chartered Marine Engineer, and a Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology.
He is a Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Motor) holder with an Advanced Diploma in Marine Engineering. He has fifteen years of seagoing experience on container vessels, including two years as Chief Engineer. He was a Class Surveyor with Lloyd’s Register of Asia working with container vessels, General Cargo vessels, Crude Oil and Chemical Tankers, Tugs and Bulk Carriers. He is also experienced in casualty consultation and survey work on behalf of various interests, including Hull and Machinery, P&I Club, Solicitors and Charterers.
Choon Khim holds a Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law and Arbitration and is a Fellow Member of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. He also holds an MSc in Sustainable Maritime Operations.
Expert Witness specialisms:
- Written report for solicitors acting on behalf of underwriters in a case concerning fractures found on a dump barge allegedly due to heavy weather.
- Written report for solicitors acting for a repair company in a case where the repair company was alleged to be negligent in their repairs causing damage to a 4- stroke engine.
- Written report for solicitors acting on behalf of a ship owner to bring action against a shipyard for negligence leading to a damaged main engine.
